Agatha Christie: A is for Ashfield...
“One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is to have a happy childhood.”
Dame Agatha Christie, known worldwide as the Queen of Crime, was a twentieth-century English novelist of both crime and romantic fiction. She is most famous for her sixty-six detective novels, fourteen short story collections, and the world’s longest-running play, The Mousetrap. Here I will look at Agatha’s early life, from her childhood at Ashfield to her engagement to Archie Christie and the outbreak of the First World War. A future Beyond Bloomsbury biography will examine how these early years influenced her writing.
