Lytton Strachey was an early twentieth-century English writer and biographer and a key member of the Bloomsbury Group. He is probably best known for his rejection of commemorative Victorian biography and for writing about his subjects - in works such as Queen Victoria and Eminent Victorians - with irony and humour.
