Not only are trains wonderful, but as these paintings show, so are their stations, the people who use them and the places they promote. Just delightful!
Oh I can’t tell you how much I love these - and trains. Anyone looking for a train adventure might think of doing the Intrepid Turkish tour where you travel overnight from Izmir across Anatolia to Konya. Really comfy and amazing landscape. At Konya they take you to Rumi’s monastery for breakfast. Magical.
This is a great set. I really enjoyed these, particularly Tirzah Garwood, which is just delightful. The two Ravilious paintings are familiar, but always lovely to see. The wartime paintings are rather moving.
This is an absolute joy - so interesting to see York and Euston as they once were (York still very recognisable, Euston less so). and those happy memories of holidays in the West Country. The detailed portrayal of wartime conditions is fascinating, too.
This is a lovely piece: thank you for putting it together. I am pleased to be able to tell you that "St Pancras Signals" by Elwin Hawthorne dates from 1930.
How you put this together is both a marvel and a history of railroad development and the experience. You continue to delight.
Thank you so much, Mary 💛✨
This is a delight! Thank you.

Thank you, Marian. The collection was a joy to put together 🧡

Glorious! This post and its wonders made my heart lift on a rainy morning in Tokyo. I especially enjoyed the painting of Penzance station.
Thank you, Jeffrey ✨

My pleasure, Victoria. It was lovely to see an East London Group image included in your piece.
