What a beautiful collection of paintings. I am currently reading Long Live Great Bardfield, by Tirzah Garwood so it is extra lovely to see the paintings that she describes so vividly in her book- especially the cement works!
Just last week I used "Chalk Paths" as cover image for my downloaded ebook of Edward Thomas's 'Icknield Way'. They died in different wars 25 years apart. But the same love of the chalk country.
Available now - but only on my personal Kindle account… I use open source Calibre software to put appropriate and legible covers on public domain ebooks from Project Gutenberg. The beautiful Faber Nature Poets edition (out of print) alerted me to The Icknield Way. Some of which is v boring, skip Chapter II. But some is outstanding. I just put some extracts up at https://www.ronaldturnbull.co.uk/texts/rain.html
These are beautiful paintings. I have not heard of this artist before viewing these paintings. So sad to learn he died missing in action. And his wife was also very talented, and died young too.
I've gotten to know this artist through you and I really love his work. So hard to pick a favorite but part of the fun so I choose the Chalk Roads. Thanks Victoria!
I was getting so sad scrolling down these magnificent paintings watching the dates and knowing that by the last one he would be all but dead. One of my favourite artists. Thank you.

Wow, that’s a coincidence. When is it available?

There's nothing more quintessentially English (in the very best way) than R's work. Love his engravings too
Thank you for visiting and commenting :) ✨
So much to look at. Hammersmith! Oh man, so different today (obviously…but even so, it’s striking…)
Thank you for commenting, Nicolas. And yes, so very different today! ✨
Gorgeous collection. Interesting themes and subjects. I loved the subdued tones and especially the use of the colour blue in these works.
Thank you, Franca. I’m glad you enjoyed the selection 💛
