Thank you for a lovely cheerful post on a grey January Thursday. Very difficult choosing, but my favourite is Tulips by Frederick James Porter. When tulips appear, I’ll be looking to match the colour.
Since the zinnias in my Melbourne garden are just coming into midsummer bloom, I particularly responded to the two zinnia paintings: the Edward Wolfe one with the flowers set against a vivid background that seems to challenge the intensity of the zinnias, with a man’s black hat posing a contrast to them; and the painting by Manson, where the zinnias rise out of the intriguing design on a blue and white jug. So many wonderful flower studies to ponder and choose from. Thank you, Victoria. Blooms(bury) indeed.
Love these beautiful flower paintings, especially because most of them are new to me. As a painter who often uses flowers as a subject, am always happy for new "inspiration". Thank you.
I feel as though I was in my mother in laws parlor for a few minutes or backstage in a famous actress dressing room . Wow. Impressive and absolutely gorgeous. I swear I smell those roses and peonies. And that’s a true gift in frigid January! Thank you.
