How wonderful! I live in Penzance so all this feels so local magical to me. Must pop to the Penlee gallery again soon. Thank you for your fabulous work 👌🏽
Thank you for this brilliant Substack Victoria. There's nothing else like it. I read lots of politics and some literature on here, but your posts are like opening a box of treasures every time and they remind me of what is truly important
Loved all of these. I looked up a word to describe a collection spanning 40 years and came up with "oeuvre"... For some reason many of the works strike me as having the sensitivity of a feminine touch.
We drove down to Penzance from the Tamar Valley yesterday on a perfect June day (at last) to see this exhibition at the Penlee Gallery and it was superb. Well worth a visit.
I love your gallery posts! I always find something unique and beautiful - this time it was the still life of the daffodils. Thanks so much for taking the time to share these - they help bring wonderful light to historical time periods for me. ❤️💕
beautiful, so interesting from a fashion history perspective, to see these clothes in such detail. thank you

Glimpses of everyday life in the early 20th century. Charming.

Oooh, I’m very envious. The gallery visit and the sunshine! :)
Easy....the Tin Miners! But it is a brilliant set of images. Except the Mousehole one. I am tempted to hunt it down and burn it....
Though I love Harold Harvey’s work, I admit the Mousehole painting isn’t a favourite :)
Phew! I was hoping I wouldn't offend you...
Not at all. I don’t offend easily… :)
