"The supreme question about a work of art is out of how deep a life does it spring".
I love 'The Critics', so much going on in that painting!
Many of Harold Harvey’s paintings are like short story prompts! :)
My favorites: a tie between The Critics and The Old Kitchen. I also liked Reading the News.
Great choices! :)
This is a very useful resource. I’m currently writing about the period so thanks for the references.

You’re very welcome, John. I’m so pleased you’re finding them useful :)
Stanley Spencer's 'Disrobing of christ'. What was he on?
It’s part of a set that were commissioned by a Henry Slesser and his wife for their private chapel, but sadly in the end they were too large. A very interesting group of paintings, certainly 🤎
So many beautiful stories in these paintings. I especially love The Critics. It's all too familiar. Thank you once again for sharing.
Thank you, Marina. I love The Critics, and Harold Harvey! :)
Yes, I hadn't heard of him before. But he captured life perfectly.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. I especially like The Latest News, Burford High Street (I know it well) and Girls on a Jetty.
Thank you, June. Lovely choices! :)
So kind of you to share so many photos of paintings. Art, for my part at leas, I would never have seen otherwise.
Very good paintings to sooth the mind. Thanks
Thank you, Glenn. And you’re very welcome! :)
Victoria, thank you for the amazing stuff you bring to light
I think I might just have to spend the rest of my life visit all these museums to see these paintings not just as digital prints
You’re very welcome, Daniel. That sounds a great thing to do. An art road trip! :)
Still Life at the Window and the Latest News - absolutely gorgeous!
