So fascinated by the little, mostly crooked trees on tables. Sweet simplicity.

The Wodehouse quote sent me to the library catalogue to add Jeeves and the Yuletide Spirit to my Christmas and New Year reading. Choosing a favourite painting is difficult but spending time doing so will be a joy. Thank you.

Absolutely love this wonderful collection of art and seasonal quotes which perfectly capture Christmas. The spindly trees particularly resonate with me as I instantly remember the little spindly silver one we had when I was a child, its thin branches almost bare of tinsel. I am also drawn to the painting of the YMCA canteen and its great social context. Thank you for all of this!

Another wonderful collection Victoria and so good to re-visit Duncan Grant. I’m currently reading the memoirs of David Garnett. I find the Bloomsbury group endlessly fascinating and very much enjoy your posts. Thank you so much for all you do to share information and inspiration on these interesting people and the culture of their time. Have a great Christmas.

This was so delightful. Like many I loved all the little potted trees. But the Christmas Roses piece really pleased me. I loved all the subtle gradations of color. I would be interested in hearing how you curate your collections.

I’m so pleased you enjoyed it, Jodi. I’ve been collecting images from different sources, and from the Bloomsbury period, for a few years now. Though I’ve been in love with that time since I was a child. I have the images saved under the name of the artist but I also have some sub folders as well… Christmas and interiors, for example. 🎄✨

Such a bounty of evocative art by artists mostly new to me. I particularly like the sullen little girl who doesn’t seem to think much of her pile of gifts.
