So many intriguing people. June this year is centenary of death on Everest of George Mallory, painted by both Grant and Bussey and lover (one night stand) of James Strachey. I'm substacking about him next week but only about mountains not his Bloomsbury interaction

Thanks for subscribing! My Mallory post will be about his mountaineering rather than his flirtations (or being flirted with) by Grant, Maynard Keynes and the Stracheys - only so much you can get into 1400 words - though I'll be writing about him in more detail on UKclimbing.com in a month or two. It's said that he also features as 'George' in EM Forster's 'Room with a View'.

That's him. The glamorous disreputable Bohemian "and it is quite possible that he, too, may be a Socialist." Plus a taste for naked bathing, which is definitely George Mallory's too.

Posting tomorrow on George Mallory on Everest. But I think I'll explore him and Bloomsbury and EM Forster the following Wednesday. Did you know Julian Sands also died in the mountains? I didn't.

Enjoyed reading the many snippets of Duncan Grant's early years... Left us wanting more... Brilliant. Fascination now with 'Before Bloomsbury'... Thank you for researching...
